FANSIPAN CHALLENGE

Fansipan, a rough pronunciation of the local name Hua Xi Pan means the tottery giant rock. The French came to Vietnam and in 1905 planted a landmark telling Fansipan’s height of 3,143m and branded it the Roof of Indochina. Very few people climbed to the top of Fansipan at the time. Then came the long years of war and Fansipan was left deserted for hunting and savaging. The trail blazed by the French was quickly overgrown by the underbrush.

21:00: Pick you up from your Hotel, transfer to railway station to take the night train at 22:00 to go to Sapa.

Day 1:

Arrive in Lao Cai Railway Station at about 6:30, transfer by minibus to Sapa. Check in the hotel and have breakfast.
In the Afternoon: Trekking to visit Cat Cat’s Black H’mong village to visit the Power Station and Waterfall and then go back the hotel.

Day 2: Start Climping Up (B, L, D)

Jeep takes you to the foot of Fanxipan in Cat Cat Village and you start climbing, crossing the suspension bridge and one stream, it is up and down and all the way up, which is hard but with beautiful scenery.
The camp is about 2.100 m by one lovely stream, it is interesting to collect fire wood when discovering the surroundings of the camp or helping your guide cook an excellent dinner.

Day 3: More Climbing (B, L, D)

Waken up by the birds singing, after breakfast at 8 o’ clock you start your day. The higher you climb up the fresher the air, nicer the forest and if you are lucky you may see monkeys. The camp is about 2.800 m by lovely stream.

Day 4: Summit Day (B, L, D)

Get started at 8:30, after 2 hours walking and climbing in the bamboo forests you will be on top. Time for pictures, viewing imposing mountains and lunch before coming down by different path, going on the back-born of the mountains enjoying fantastic view
The camp is at about 2.100 m by the stream again.

Day 5: Sapa – Hanoi (B, L)

Easy day, you start at 9am. After about 3 hour you will go out of the forest then meet your jeep. Stop at silver waterfall (the most beautiful waterfall in Sapa for resting, back to Sapa at about 12 o’clock.
Check in hotel then time for lunch. Afternoon is free. At 6pm, car to Laocai for the night train to Hanoi . Tour ended.
